Life is ever-changing and we have no other choice but to grow and evolve as we move through it. What Does it Mean to be “The Best Version of Yourself”?

This means whatever you want it to mean. The answer to this question is unique to you and your goals. Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to look at yourself honestly and consciously. You must choose to improve your weaknesses and faults – yes, this is a CHOICE! Weaknesses and faults do make you YOU, but how you choose to act on them does. No one is perfect – perfection is not possible. So whenever you see someone and think “they are just perfect” that is a false statement…what you are seeing is the constant work of self-awareness and self-improvement but by no means is any one person perfect. To be the best version of yourself simply means to never stop working on yourself.

3 Steps to Be the Best Version of Yourself

Step 1

The first step to becoming the best version of yourself is to analyze yourself with utter honesty. Take the time to reflect on every aspect of your life and make a list of everything you want to improve. This can be losing weight, controlling your temper/emotions, changing your career, healing from trauma, etc. Ultimately, you want to create a list of EVERYTHING you want to improve and change in order to become the person you want to be.

This first step is challenging yet important because you have to face yourself and THAT is terrifying. In this step, you will learn how to become self-aware and self-awareness is essential for productive self-improvement. We all want to believe that our habits and mindset are better than everyone else’s so it takes genuine humility to realize that there is always room for improvement. Learning how to recognize when something in your life needs improvement is step one for a better life.

Step 2

Once you know what you want to improve, create an action list of the things you are going to do to achieve the version of yourself you envision. Try this exercise: Pretend you already are the version of yourself you aspire to be – what habits and routines have you cultivated? What does your day-to-day look like? What are you doing for a living? Where do you live? What do you do for fun? What do you do to decompress?

Some goals will have multiple goals within them so brainstorm every detail. For example, let’s say one of your goals is to change careers, maybe you have to go to school or have a starting point to climb the ladder. Map out and organize every goal, habit, and routine so that you are prepared for your glow-up journey!

Step 3

Finally, take ACTION! Do what you say you’re going to do! Trust me, I know this step is easier said than done so take it day by day. Depending on your personality, you may need to start slow and build momentum…JUST TAKE ACTION! Change can only happen when you put the work in.
