Chakra Meditation Spiritual Awakening

Beginner’s Guide to Chakras

I’m sure you’ve heard the word ‘chakra’ before and thought “what is that?”. In this post, learn the basics of chakras and how these powerful energy points contribute to your spiritual journey and wellness!

What are chakras?

To break it down, the Sanskrit word Chakra means wheel or disk. In spirituality, this term refers to wheels of spiritual energy located throughout the body. Basically, a chakra is an energy point in the body.

Why a Balanced and Open Chakra is Important?

There are seven chakra points aligned along the spine. Starting from the base of the spine and going up to the crown of the head. It is believed that chakras reflect how consciousness is divided to manage different aspects of life. For instance, each chakra emits a different energy frequency that is in direct correlation to your organ function, immune system, and emotions. Therefore, being aware and in tune with your chakras can drastically change your overall health and wellness.

Where are my charkas located and what do they mean?

1st: Base or Root Chakra

The first chakra is located at the base of your spine. This energy frequency is in connection with the vertebrae, the bladder, and the colon. Additionally, it resonates with the color red and feelings of grounding and survival.

2nd: Sacral Chakra

This one is located at your lower abdomen. It governs the sexual organs, Ovaries / Testicles, bladder, bowel, and lower intestine. Additionally, it resonates with the color orange and feelings of self-love, creativity, and sexuality. Tip: keep this chakra open and healthy for amazing orgasms *wink*!

3rd: Solar Plexus Chakra

The third one is located on your upper abdomen. It regulates functions of the stomach, upper intestines, upper back, and upper spine. Additionally, it resonates with the color yellow and feelings of personal power and wisdom. This is the chakra that emits ‘bad bitch’ energy!

4th: Heart Chakra

Of course, this one is located in the heart. It is associated with the heart, lungs, blood, and circulation. Additionally, it resonates with the color green and feelings of love, healing, and gratitude.

5th: Throat Chakra

As the name suggests, it is located on the throat. It governs the throat, thyroid, mouth, teeth, tongue, and jaw. Additionally, it resonates with the color blue and feelings of communication and emotion.

6th: Third Eye Chakra

This is the most commonly know chakra that is located between the eyes/eyebrows and controls the pituitary gland, pineal gland, skull, eyes, brain, nervous system, and the senses. Additionally, this resonates with the color indigo and feelings of awareness and intuition. Get woke!

The final chakra is located on the top of the head and controls the top of the spinal cord, brain stem, pain center, and nerves. Additionally, it resonates with the color violet and feelings of spirituality.

How do I Balance and Open my Chakras?

There are many ways to heal your chakras but a simple creative visualization meditation is the easiest way to achieve balance. Creative visualization is a mindfulness exercise used to promote manifestation. This technique requires the use of visualizing what you want and experiencing the emotions and feelings you would have if it were your reality. The trick to this meditation for this specific purpose is to visualize your chakras and send healing energy to those points.

First, visualize the corresponding chakra color as a spinning ball of energy located at the chakra point you’re working on. While this ball of light is active, connect with the feelings this chakra brings when it’s healthy. For example, if you’re working on your throat chakra visualize yourself communicating with others effectively, standing up for yourself, and expressing your emotions clearly; feel the feelings all these actions bring. As you feel these feelings envision this chakra getting brighter and more vivid! Once you feel like you have absorbed this powerful energy, slowly open your eyes, take a deep breath, and continue with your day.

Final Thoughts

Healing your chakras is a lot like healing yourself…it takes time so keep on doing your thing and little by little your chakras will align!
