How to Cleanse and Charge Crystals
If you’re new to crystals you may not know that they need to be cleansed and charged to enhance their intended healing powers. In this post, discover what cleaning and charging is along with 3 simple techniques to do it!
Importance of cleansing and charging
To start, when I say cleanse and charge I am referring to energy cleansing and charging; crystals need regular energy cleansing and charging to perform at their best. It is crucial to do so as crystals absorb negativity so you must cleanse them to prevent that type of energy from bouncing back to you and your space. By removing unfavorable energies you will bring the crystal back to its original energetic healing state. When you cleanse a crystal you are at the same time charging it which rejuvenates its powerful healing energy once again.
How To Cleanse and Charge Your Crystals
There are multiple ways to cleanse and charge crystals but here are the top 3 easiest techniques.
Smudging
The term smudging refers to burning herbs and plants. The idea is that the smoke from the herbs and plants attaches itself to negative energy. As the smoke clears it takes the negative energy with it, releasing it into another space where it will be regenerated into positive energy. Sage is most commonly used for this.
Begin by calming yourself and setting the intention of removing negativity from your crystals. Then light a bundle of sage and let the smoke surround them. Feel free to use a smudging feather to guide the smoke in the right direction.

How often do I cleanse my crystals?
A good rule of thumb is to cleanse them at least once a month. Although, if you feel the energy of the crystal is not as strong then it is time to cleanse. Listen and trust your intuition.
