What is a Spiritual Bath?
Spiritual baths have been used for centuries because their healing properties are transformative. These baths are powerful as they utilize different earth elements to encourage healing, rejuvenation, and empowerment.
The main element in a spiritual bath is water. Water is cleansing AND restorative so when you immerse yourself in water it has the power to cleanse negative energies while restoring positive energies. When you intentionally add specific energy frequencies such as salts, essential oils, and herbs, you elevate your bath to a spiritual level.
How to Take a Spiritual Bath
The first step to a spiritual bath is filling up the tub and adding ingredients from your chosen bath recipe. Next, take a few minutes or however long you need to take a few deep breaths and set your intention – breathe deep and, if you can, do some light stretches to connect with your body and soul. When you feel prepared, step in and clearly state your intention as soon as your foot hits the bath; stand in the tub with both feet in as you finish stating your intention prayer. Settle in the tub and envision the water cleansing away any negativity in your body. Once you feel as though all the negativity has been cast out, allow your body to absorb and embrace all the positive intentions and ingredients you set for this spiritual experience. Finally, sit and meditate (Meditation for Beginners) on that intention as you soak for at least 20 minutes; meditation is being aware of your thoughts without any judgments. Let your mind and your body be free and surrender to the vibration of the healing water.
5 Spiritual Bath Recipies
Below are 5 spiritual bath recipes for different healing and empowering rituals. The main 5 ingredients I like using for a spiritual bath are essential oils, crystals, candles, dried herbs, and affirmations. Learn how to use each ingredient below – if you dont have certain ingredients, just use what you do have because INTENTION is key here!
Essential oils: Remember, that oil and water don’t mix AND some oils may burn or irritate your skin. ONLY use essential oils that are safe to use in the bath (list here), and always use a base such as a carrier oil like jojoba or unscented castile soap to mix the essential oil with before adding to your bath.
Crystals & Candles: Place the crystals and candles as near you as possible without getting them wet or in the water. A good place is the ledge of the tub.
Dried Herbs: Drop a handful of the dried herbs in the water.
Affirmations: Say the affirmation/matra as you get into the bath and throughout. Mediate on the healing frequency you want the bath to conjure.
